Art-Based Methods PhD Reading Group

Are you a PhD student interested in arts-based research methods? Does your PhD research include artistic approaches? Are you looking to connect with other students thinking about these methods? If this is something that you’ve been thinking about, please consider joining the new Arts-Based Methods PhD Reading Group.

We are Fran and Helen, two first-year PhD students working with visual, sensorial and participatory art-based research methods, and we decided to start this reading group to connect with other students engaging in arts-based research methods. Our hope is that this group will be a collective space where we can talk about different arts-based research methods and share our experiences and challenges. If you would like to join the group and receive regular communication, please fill out this form.

We are excited to announce our very first activity: an informal workshop on Arts Based Methods in Global Politics, generously led by Dr. Holly Eva Ryan who will share her work and experiences using arts-based methods in her research. This will be an opportunity to meet other PhD students using arts-based methods and a chance to discuss our work (please feel free to join even if your work is unrelated to politics!). The workshop will be on Tuesday, March 12th at 12pm in iQ (Scape) room 1.02. Space is limited, so please RSVP with Helen (h.gutierrezfarquhar@qmul.ac.uk) to book.

We hope to see you there!
